The Narrative of the Merchant of Venice
The Narrative of the Merchant of Venice is from the standpoint of Antonio. He is shown as the main character and is focused on throughout the play. This is unlike Shylock, who is portrayed as a villain and the antagonist of the play. He is shown as greedy and money loving, because he is Jewish. The narrative seems to make Antonio look like a good guy. This portrayal is due to Antonio being christian, so they compare him positively to Shylock the Jew. This shows how the focus of the book is on Antonio and his journey through the narrative.
