Cornell University has created a plan to harness Geothermal energy near their campus. It would allow for electrical, heat, and hot water energy generation.  This is unique because most geothermal energy production facilities use existing geothermal vents or volcanoes, this plan would involve drilling 2-4 miles under the ground to tap into warmer rock not actual magma.
