The Mood of Gatsby and Daisy's Meeting
When Daisy and Gatsby meet at Tom's house for tea, it is raining. Gatsby was nervous about the meeting so he had an enormous amount of flowers delivered and he had the yard mowed. When the day of the meeting comes around Gatsby is very nervous because he is seeing Daisy for the first time since he left for the war. It is raining when they arrive at Tom's. This creates a sad mood that foreshadows what is to come. The rain makes what should be a happy reunion seem like something terrible.
