I choose to read I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou.  This autobiographical book about her early life focuses on her struggles with Racism, poverty, and early motherhood. The book shows the struggle of coming of age in the segregated south. It is able to make Maya's stories relatable without making them feel unspecific or cliche.  I highly recommend this book and think anyone would gain something from reading it.
